Lake Mburo, situated along the Mbarara – Masaka highway is one of the popular national parks in Uganda because of the vast number of wildlife species you will be able to find here especially big herds of antelopes. Established in 1982, the park sits on area of 260 square kilometers and it’s here that you will able to find rare species of antelopes like the elands, impalas, zebras, giraffes and the common seen wildlife species like the hyenas, oribis, buffaloes, topis, Nile crocodiles, hippos and more.
Lake Bunyonyi is located in the district of Kabale and one of the destinations you have to add onto your travel bucket list. The lake is surrounded by steep hills and is located at 1962m above sea level, 7km wide and 25km long. Bunyonyi which is crater lake is also known to be the second deepest lake in Africa with a deepest that varies between 44m to 900m. while here you can engage in canoeing around the lake that is after putting on safety jackets, swimming can also be done here as the lake is free of bilharzia. There various bird species that you can as well spot while here that include: white tailed monad, grey crested cranes, weavers, African kingfisher, herons, pied kingfishers and much more other species. The lake is also home to 29 islands where you can go and explore so much that the lake holds within its boundaries.

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo – game drive
Our driver/guide will pick you up from the airport or hotel of residence in the early morning to set off to Lake Mburo National Park situated in the western part of Uganda. Before setting off, you will be briefed on the itinerary what it contains and what to look forward to. After that you will embark on the journey to the park. Setting off is usually in the early morning hours at 7am to be able to beat the morning traffic jam in the city. Along the way, you will able to spot the beautiful countryside made up of hills, valleys and different towns where goods and services can be accessed.
Upon arrival, you head straight to a game drive in Lake Mburo National Park. Here you have chances of spotting the rare species of elands, herds of zebras, topis, wipsprings, warthogs, impalas, buffaloes and more. You will later head for lunch. After lunch, you will head for a two-hour boat cruise where you will able to spot the hippos, crocodiles, aquatic bird species, buffaloes and more. After the boat cruise, you will head back to your lodge to relax, have dinner and then rest.

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and canoeing
You will wake up in the early morning, take breakfast and then check out of your hotel to embark on a journey to Lake Bunyonyi. On a trip to this far south western part of Uganda, you will get to enjoy more scenic views of rolling hills, plantations, different towns where people gather to buy and sell goods plus access a number of services that include banks, hospitals and more. You also get a chance to spot the famous long horned Ankole cows grazing in the farms. You can as well talk to the guide/driver to stop so that you get to capture the moments onto your camera or phone. Once you reach, you will check in to your hotel, have lunch and later you will be taken for a canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi. While here, you will be able to spot a number of bird species and be able to visit/see the 29 islands found here. Before you go for a canoe ride, you’re required to wear a safety jacket to reduce chances of you drowning once you accidently fall into the lake.
After the canoe ride, you will head back to your lodge to relax, have dinner and then rest.

Day 3: Transfer to Kampala
Wake up in the morning, have breakfast and later check out of your lodge for a journey to Kampala. Along the route, you have another opportunity to enjoy the scenic views of the beautiful countryside. You will stop over at Agip motel in Mbarara for lunch and later continue your journey. You will arrive in Kampala in the evening and our driver/guide will drop you off at either the airport or the lodge of your in Kampala. This will mark the End of your 3 days lake Mburo and Lake Bunyonyi safari.
